Chicago Uechi-ryu would like to welcome Paola Bortolin back to the dojo.  After training at the Chicago Dojo in 1995 and 1996, Paola returned to South America for a short time. But, we're glad she's back!

After eight long years of hard work, Benjamin Monson was finally old enough to test for the rank of Adult Shodan (1st Degree Back Belt).   Sensei Kahn was honored to travel to Gary Khoury's Dojo in Tewksbury, MA to be Benjamin's partner during the test. Mitch Zaveduk also made the trip to provide moral support. Benjamin performed beautifully, and he made the entire Chicago Uechi-ryu Dojo proud.

This year's Martial Arts Summerfest, hosted by Sensei George E. Mattson, was once again held on Buzzard's Bay, MA.  Accompanying Sensei Kahn this year was Peter Papoutsis, Peter Nason, Mitch Zaveduk and BJ Monson all of whom embraced the concept, "BE LIKE MOY."  Spouses Valerie Papoutsis and Annette Nason also made the trip, spending their days sightseeing around Cape Cod. Sensei Kahn led several seminars over the course of the camp, and much time was spent working with Sensei Vinny Christiano on progressive Uechi concepts. And...don't forget to ask Pete Nason to show you the permanent marks on his stomach!

Congratulations to "Big" Pete Papoutsis and his lovely bride Valerie on their recent nuptials. It was a moving Greek ceremony followed by a festive reception with great food, lots of music and energetic dancing.
